The Dreaded DDD

Three years ago I woke up to find that my groin was numb. Like it was asleep. I rang 111 the NHS advice line and the next thing I knew an ambulance was on its way. I didn’t realise at the time but this was the start of a new type of hell. The numbness was a symptom of a condition called Cauda Equina Syndrome which has the potential to be quite debilitating. I spent 3 days in hospital, taking morphine for the pain and …

Fun at the Bike show

Today Mr H and I went to the bike show in Manchester, UK. We went a few years ago and it was busy and yet a good place to look for a bargain. Ear Protection We wanted to purchase some custom made ear protectors, as they will not only protect our hearing as we ride but also enable us to hear through our new communication kits more effectively. Doesn’t make sense does it? Wearing ear plugs will help you hear better? It works because they …

Twisted fairytale

The Princess Bride is one of my favourite movies. Based on the book of the same name by William Goldman, I believe it is the perfect combination of funny and weird. The pirate is the hero, the prince is the bad guy and, well, it suits my sense of humour! “Inconceivable!” It stars some of my favourite childhood stars too. Fred Savage plays the grandson who is ill in the movie, and Peter Falk (better known as Colombo) the grandfather. He comes to look after …

FFS

Friction Free Shaving or FFS is an online razor subscription for women and as I now shave my legs, underarms and all my bikini area daily I don’t skimp on razor blades. Since starting this regime I have used Gillette Venus Embrace Sensitive blades. They have 5 blades and a moisture strip but at £13 per pack of 4 they aren’t cheap. Mr H had recently had a bit of a “how much” moment at the cost of the refills for his own Gillette razor …

Sunday Snuggle

Sunday mornings are our lazy mornings. We don’t have any alarms to wake us up. We don’t have anywhere to be. I love Sundays for this reason. We get to snuggle. There’s a line I love from the Twighlight Breaking dawn movie.  It wasn’t in the books, but in this case I don’t mind the addition. “It’s an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to and accept you for what you are.” Edward Cullen wedding speech from Twilight Breaking Dawn pt1 …

Cancellations

We were supposed to go away this coming Saturday, but today we have had to take the decision to cancel. Not because we want to particularly but because MrH’s motorbike needs a new exhaust. We hoped it could be repaired but alas no. The money we would spend on our hotel is going to be needed to pay for the repair. There’s an element of disappointment of course. This would be our first hotel break since the end of November, and we were looking forward …

2018 – What a year.

This isn’t going to be a long post. Not at all. This year I’ve learned a lot about myself and MrH. We’ve loved more. We’ve talked more. We’ve grown closer. We’ve made new friends. There’s a number of blogs I read that I find inspiring and interesting, but I’m only going to mention a couple here. SubMissy is an amazing woman. I’ve had the privilege to meet her and HisLordship and I very much hope to see them again. New bloggers Purplesole and LittleGem have …

The knicker fairy delivers

There is a lovely Ann Summers rep I know and Mr H and I order lingerie from her. As there is a sale on we ordered two new sets. They arrived today and they are lovely, but as I look pictures to show Mr H I was struck by negative thoughts. Serious negative thoughts. Now I know, I have body image issues. They stem back to my adolescence and a lack of good parental encouragement. I was never told I was pretty, or clever. I …

Christmas Day 2018

I’m still suffering from the tramadol withdrawal. Which sucks. MrH is looking after me, as is our youngest B. Our eldest S didn’t come home, he went to stay with friends. We don’t really make a huge fuss at Christmas we never have. I’m not a fan of commercialisation and the oneupmanship that occurs this time of year. We’ve always had a simple budget for Christmas presents for the boys [£100 each] and at birthdays they get £50. In our opinion it’s enough. There have …

orgasm

The bump, the smack and the “O”

Sounds like the title to a children’s book doesn’t it? Well actually it just about sums up last Friday. It started with a car accident… well incident they say now don’t they? Some PC crap gone mental… but in this case it was an accident. Someone reversed into my car. Everyone seemed ok just damage to the cars. So onto work I went. My day progressed as normal, plenty of sweet drinks and then mid afternoon I came over funny. My colleague says I just …
